The Shootouts – “California To Ohio”
The Shootouts combine high-energy honky tonk and traditional country music with Americana and Western Swing. Reminiscent of artists such as Roy Orbison, Marty Stuart, and Dwight Yoakam they offer a throwback to the sounds from country music’s golden years. They have shared the stage with Jim Lauderdale, Elvis Costello, Zac Brown Band, and The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Their new single and video “California To Ohio” is based on the real life love story between frontman Ryan Humbert’s grandparents: In February of 1953, Corporal Ronald Dean Humbert hitchhiked across the country from Camp Pendleton, California to his home in Hartville, Ohio to see his wife Norma and their newborn baby daughter Denise while on a ten-day leave from the U.S. Marine Corps. The ended up sharing nearly 65 years of love and happiness before Ronald passed away in 2016. The new video dedicated to his memory is filled with images of old family photos, and is heartfelt, touching, and patriotic and is a nice step back to country music’s roots.
