Tony McKee – “Lightning Bugs”
Tony McKee grew up around music. Raised by a family of musicians, he first gained interest in the art form watching classic Hollywood movies like the Wizard of Oz. He quickly began performing anywhere he could, from leading worship to taking part in competitions like the K-Country Showdown. After high school he found himself trying out different genres, starting with Gospel and then moving on to Country and Pop. While in college studying as a music major he discovered his new love for songwriting. After spending some time in LA working in film, he came back to Nashville to find a producer and eventually ended up connecting with Kent Wells (Dolly Parton.) The connection led to the creation of his debut single, “Lightning Bugs” which arrived at radio earlier this year. With lyrics reminiscent of all the things he loved as a child, the song is about connecting with listeners and sharing experiences with them.
